IU Southeast holds groundbreaking ceremony for Timber Lodge25th April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 25, 2012) – Timber Lodge is on its way up. Indiana University Southeast celebrated the groundbreaking for our newest campus building – Timber Lodge – on Wednesday, April 25. The new lodge will be the sixth on-campus housing unit and will be located near Orchard and Grove Lodges at the south end of campus.

Medal of Honor recipient to share story with IU Southeast20th April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 20, 2012) – World War II veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Marine Corporal Hershel “Woody” Williams will share his war stories and how he earned the Medal of Honor with Indiana University Southeast and the community during Victory Week. Williams’ presentation will be from 6-7 p.m., April 26, in the Stem Theater at the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center, as part of the Student Veterans Organization’s Victory Week.

Registration Day for continuing students scheduled at IU Southeast19th April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 19, 2012) – Make sure you get the classes you need this fall! Join IU Southeast for our first-ever Registration Day for continuing students. On Tuesday, April 24th, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Help Desk Computer Lab in University Center South, we’ll have experts on hand to help returning freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors register for fall classes.

IU Southeast students showcase research projects19th April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 19, 2012) – If you’ve ever thought about how teachers can help kids stay awake in class, IU Southeast student Micah Robertson could tell you. Or if you’ve ever wondered where the parents are in animated films, IU Southeast student Gina Biesel could explain. Or do you find yourself asking, “Is this real life?” after watching a reality TV show? IU Southeast student Rebecca Worthington has the answers. Robertson, Biesel, and Worthington are just three of the almost 190 students who will be showing off their research and projects at the 6th Annual IU Southeast Student Conference and Showcase, held April 19th and 20th at IU Southeast.

William “Bill” Cochran to receive honorary doctorate from IU Southeast16th April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 16, 2012) – Longtime Southern Indiana state legislator William C. “Bill” Cochran will receive an honorary doctorate from Indiana University Southeast at the 2012 Commencement ceremony. Cochran was a tireless champion for higher education and IU Southeast during his 34 years in the state legislature. He also served as a Special Assistant to the Chancellor at IU Southeast for nearly 10 years.

IU Southeast to close Noncredit Programs3rd April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 3, 2012) – Beginning July 1, Indiana University Southeast will phase out Noncredit Programs. The department of Noncredit Programs is part of IU Southeast’s Continuing Studies division and has allowed the University to serve the community by offering not-for-credit business and industry training, general interest programs, and children’s classes. The decision to end Noncredit Programs is a result of Indiana University’s closure of the School of Continuing Studies and is due to the financial constraints confronting higher education in the state. The closure will not affect the bachelor’s degree in general studies that is currently housed in Continuing Studies.
