Shape the visual world with a BFA in Graphic Design
The BFA in Graphic Design at Indiana University Southeast blends creative vision with real-world application to prepare you for a career as a design strategist. You’ll build a strong foundation in both digital and traditional print media, gaining hands-on experience through coursework, client-based projects, and studio practice. Choose to focus in one of three key areas: Visuality, Interactivity, or Marketability. Each specialty area offers a unique way to explore and master design principles.
In Visuality, students explore structural and print-based design, such as packaging, typography, environmental graphics, and design activism. Interactivity focuses on digital platforms like web design, email marketing, and user experience. Marketability emphasizes branding, visual identity, and public perception, leading to potential careers in advertising, art direction, and creative management.
Gain real-world experience in a collaborative studio environment
Your design education comes to life in the Design Center, a graphic design studio equipped with iMacs, MacBooks, Epson color printers, scanners, and more. The Center offers branding, web, and layout services for real clients, giving students practical experience and portfolio-ready work. Two additional Mac labs with projection systems expand your creative workspace.
Partnerships that build
Through classroom projects and partnerships with organizations like the Mid-America Print Council and IU Southeast departments, students learn to think critically, solve problems creatively, and design with purpose. Studio fees support the tools and resources that make it all possible, so you can focus on becoming a human-centered, socially aware designer ready to make an impact.
