IU Southeast presents The Black-Jew Dialogues at Ogle Center26th January 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Jan. 26, 2012) – Actors Larry Jay Tish and Ron jones are bringing their innovative blend of humor and cultural literacy to the Indiana University Southeast stage. The two actors are the brains behind The Black-Jew Dialogues, a two-actor play on the history and absurdity of prejudice and racism and the power of diversity, that will be performed at IU Southeast on Jan. 31.

Jockey Pat Day to speak at IU Southeast9th January 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Jan. 9, 2012) – Hall of Fame Jockey Pat Day will share his winning ways on and off the track with the Indiana University Southeast community this month. Day will speak at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 18, at IU Southeast, in honor of National Mentoring Month. The presentation is sponsored by the Center for Mentoring at IU Southeast.

IU Southeast basketball team donates 25 bikes to needy children21st December 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Dec. 21, 2011) – The Indiana University Southeast men’s basketball team had a new game plan this week. Instead of focusing on stealing balls, they concentrated on giving gifts. The Grenadiers, led by Head Coach Wiley Brown, partnered with the New Albany-Floyd County Parks Department to provide brand new bicycles to 25 children in need.

Former state legislator Bill Cochran retires from IU Southeast16th December 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Dec. 16, 2011) – After nearly a decade as the Special Assistant to the Chancellor, longtime state legislator William C. “Bill” Cochran retired from IU Southeast this week. Cochran has worked at IU Southeast since 2002. As part of the Alumni and Community Relations staff, he was instrumental in helping to further the mission of the University. He championed several issues and secured financial support for several IU Southeast projects over the years, including the IU Southeast Library, Knobview Hall, and the IU Southeast Lodges.

IU Southeast partners with Horseshoe Foundation for Student Investment Fund16th December 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Dec. 16, 2011) – Indiana University Southeast is partnering with the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County on an innovative project to establish a student investment fund that provides real-world learning experience in investment portfolio management. The Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County Student Investment Fund is being established in the IU Southeast School of Business with a $100,000 fund from the foundation.

IU Southeast students turn former art store into exhibition gallery17th November 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Nov. 17, 2011) – Indiana University Southeast fine arts students will showcase an eclectic mix of creative works in honor of a local art institution this weekend. Graduating seniors in the Bachelor of Arts program will open “Eclectica” at the former Preston Art Center in New Albany on Saturday, Nov. 19. Ten students are participating in the exhibition which will feature pieces in ceramics, painting, graphic design, photography, video, drawing, and digital illustration.

IU Southeast to host English Language Learners Conference10th November 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (Nov. 10, 2011) – Indiana University Southeast is hosting a conference this weekend to help teachers with best practices and strategies for teaching English as a new language. The English Language Learners Conference will be held Nov. 11 and 12 at IU Southeast. Administrators, K-12 teachers, school counselors, pre-service teachers, and other individuals working with school-age, non-native English speakers are invited to attend.

Making a world-class education more affordable: IU to offer significantly discounted undergraduate tuition for summer-session students24th October 2011

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana University today (Oct. 24) unveiled a plan to significantly reduce undergraduate tuition for summer-semester students beginning in 2012 in order to provide financial relief to many of its students, promote year-round college attendance and decrease the time it takes many students to earn a degree. Beginning next summer, Indiana resident undergraduates enrolled at any of the seven IU campuses statewide will receive a 25-percent discount in tuition for courses taken in the summer.

Interdisciplinary Colloquium Series takes climate change to outer space19th October 2011

The next entry in the IU Southeast Interdisciplinary Colloquium Series, “Climate Change: What are the Facts and What Should We Do,” will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, on the third floor of the IU Southeast Library.
