Bachelor of Arts in Political Science - Political Science Honors

Study Political Power, Theory, and Institutions

The Honors track of the traditional Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Indiana University Southeast invites students to explore the core ideas, institutions, and behaviors that shape political life at home and abroad. You’ll examine the enduring questions of authority, justice, freedom, and power while gaining a deep understanding of how governments function and how citizens engage with them.

Through courses in American politics, political theory, comparative government, and international relations, you’ll analyze how power operates within and between nations, how policies are developed and contested, and how political behavior influences decision-making. This traditional concentration offers a well-rounded foundation for careers in law, government, education, or the nonprofit sector.

Develop Critical Thinking and Research Skills

At IUS, you’ll get a strong liberal arts foundation with an emphasis on analytical reasoning, persuasive communication, and critical research. You’ll learn to interpret political texts, analyze data on public opinion and elections, and evaluate political arguments with precision.

Students who choose the Honors track take their studies even further. You’ll complete additional readings and research, participate in advanced seminars, and engage with contemporary political challenges at a deeper level—perfect preparation for law school or graduate study.
