The CFO of the Year awards are handed out annually by Business First and recognize financial executives in the public and nonprofit sectors.

According to the article announcing the finalists written by Business First editor Carol Brandon Timmons, selecting this year’s finalists was “more challenging than ever.”

“Financial executives have intensive, tough duties at any time — much less when the country is recovering from a recession and businesses are growing and changing in a new economic environment,” she said in the article.

From this point, outside judges will review the nominations and determine the winners, who will be announced on June 21 at the CFO of the Year awards luncheon. Articles on each of the nominees will be featured in a CFO of the Year special section of Business First released June 22.

Wavle has been at IU Southeast since January 2009. The Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs at IU Southeast is the chief financial and business officer for the University and oversees departments including accounting services, human resources, conference and dining services, physical plant, university police, and the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center.

Prior to his time at IU Southeast, Wavle was the executive director of auxiliary services at SUNY Cortland.
