NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 16, 2013) – In light of yesterday’s tragic events at the Boston Marathon, and in anticipation of significant upcoming events in the Greater Louisville region, Indiana University Southeast is encouraging the campus community to remain vigilant and alert to their surroundings.  

The University strives to create a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. That includes recognizing and reporting suspicious activity.

The Department of Homeland Security has created the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime.

The campaign asks that people remain aware of their surroundings, and that they do not hesitate in reporting any suspicious activity to local authorities. On campus, that means contacting University Police at (812) 941-2400.

Several major events are scheduled for our region in upcoming weeks, and while we are confident in the safety and security of these events, we want to remind students, faculty, and staff to be vigilant off campus as well. In the event of an emergency, please call 911 or contact the appropriate local authorities.
