International Education Week spurs global learning and exchange

(NEW ALBANY, Ind.)–International Education Week returns with a full slate of immersive activities to spur global awareness, curiosity and engagement.

Organized by the Office of Study Abroad and Global Awareness (SAGA), this year’s program features new events that are both fun and thought-provoking, alongside favorites such as the IU Southeast International Photography Contest (submit a photo and vote for your People’s Choice favorite).

2019 International Education Week Program

Monday, November 18:

  • Calligraphy@Lunch: Your name in another language, 12:20-1:10 p.m., Table outside bookstore.
  • Multicultural Mixer (light refreshments), 5-6:30 p.m., Library, 3rd Floor (Reading gallery).

Tuesday, November 19:

  • Calligraphy@Lunch: Your name in another language, 12:20-1:10 p.m., UC-South Entrance
  • Speed Cultural Exchange, 6-8 p.m, Meadow Lodge.

Wednesday, November 20:

  • Calligraphy@Lunch: Your name in another language, 12:20-1:10 p.m., UC-South Entrance & Knobview lobby.

Thursday, November 21:

  • Mini-Training: Refugee Camp Simulation (Mark Bouchard & Alinoti Molebo, Advocacy partners, Catholic Charities), 12:20-1:10 p.m., Crestview 111.
  • Calligraphy@Lunch: Your name in another language, 12:20-1:10 p.m., Table outside bookstore.
  • Movie and Discussion: Tibet (Anne Walter and the Tibetan Monks from the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion), 6-8 p.m., UC 121

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

At IU Southeast, the week’s activities are part of ongoing efforts to promote initiatives that prepare students to successfully be part of a global environment.
