(New Albany, Ind.)–The IU Southeast Office of International Programs invites the campus community to join in celebrating International Education Week, Nov. 12-16.

International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promoting programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

As always, a series of intriguing, eye-opening and fun events is planned at IU Southeast to broaden your horizons and fuel your dreams.

While IEW has been celebrated on campus for several years, there are always new wrinkles. Language lessons make their debut this year, fostering awareness of what unites people, even in times of strife.

“As we are all interconnected across the globe, international awareness is essential for our students moving into the future,” said Dr. Anne Allen, professor of fine arts and co-director of international programs. “This event, along with others happening this week and throughout the year, reflects the commitment of IU Southeast to a greater understanding of the world as a way of creating better citizens of both our country and of the globe.”
