Student Conference awards recognize excellence in research

(NEW ALBANY, Ind.)—The 2016 IU Southeast Student Conference concluded on Friday, April 22 with an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding research in a wide variety of areas.

The ceremony brought to an end a vibrant and eventful conference that included over 200 posters, papers, fine art and performances from 275 undergraduate and graduate students. Presentations were judged by nearly 50 faculty volunteers.

At the luncheon honoring the students, Dr. Adam Maksl, assistant professor of journalism, spoke on ways scholarship can be more accessible and useful, and Dr. Kenneth Harris, associate professor of management spoke on the the often winding but meaningful journey from student to academic. Awards and words of recognition were presented by Chancellor Dr. Ray Wallace.

“All of the presenters at the IU Southeast Student Conference should be proud of themselves for taking advantage of this opportunity and showing the excellence of their research and creative activity,” said Diane Wille, dean of research.
