IU Southeast SHRM group hosting Human Resource conferences

NEW ALBANY, IN (Jan. 17, 2014) – The second semester of the Society for Human Resource Management and Indiana University Southeast 15th Annual Human Resources Labor & Employment Series will feature topics including workplace wellness, internships and recruitment.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest human resources association, with more than 250,000 members in more than 140 countries, SHRM serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession.

The student SHRM group at IU Southeast partnered with the larger organization to put on a year-long series. Sessions began Sept. 13 and will cover various HR-related topics. The three remaining sessions are:

1. Friday, Feb. 14th – “Best Practices for Recruitment and Hiring”
2. Friday, March 14th – “Unpaid Internships” and “Workplace Wellness Programs”
3. Friday, April 11th – “Employee Classifications, Independent Contractors and Other Wage and Hour Complexities”

The workshops are geared toward human resources professionals, as well as college students and faculty from any area university. However, everyone is welcome to attend. Workshops are $20 each for professionals, but are free for college students and faculty.

Registration and check-in is at 7:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be provided before each workshop from 7:30-8 a.m. Each workshop begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 9:15 a.m. For more information, please contact the School of Business at (812) 941-2362.
