NEW ALBANY, IN, (Dec. 20, 2013) – Indiana University Southeast is looking for a good cadet.

The Indiana University Police Department is continuing the Cadet/Officer Program at the IU Southeast campus for its third year. The program gives current students the ability to gain law enforcement experience while working at the University Police department.

Any full-time student who has enough credits to be a junior as of the fall 2014 semester is eligible to apply for the program. After serving a year as a cadet at the IU Southeast police department, participants will train at the IU Bloomington Police Academy the summer before their senior year.

After completing academy training, cadets are certified as full law-enforcement officers and will return to IU Southeast to work part-time as an IU Southeast police officer during their senior year as they complete graduation requirements.

The department in recruiting now for the program and one position is available. The cadet selected will receive hourly wages for their part-time work with the department and during formal training schools. The application deadline is Feb. 14, 2014.
