NEW ALBANY, IN, (Nov. 5, 2013) – The annual Indiana University Southeast Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner set a new record for raised funds.
The 2013 event, held Oct. 19, resulted in more than $125,000 in funding for student scholarships at IU Southeast. About 500 patrons attended the dinner at Horseshoe Southern Indiana.
Of the proceeds generated, more than $30,000 came from the live and silent auctions at the event. The remainder was the result of sponsorships, ticket sales, and additional scholarship donations.
This year’s dinner honored two local community leaders with the Chancellor’s Medallion – Clementine “Tiny” Barthold and William “Bill” Ryall – and recognized four IU Southeast seniors – Cassidy Gedling, Chelsey Lloyd, Bethany Nungester, and Kyle Sweetland – as recipients of the Chancellor’s Medallion Leadership Scholarship.
The Chancellor’s Medallion is the highest honor presented by the Chancellor of Indiana University Southeast. It is given to individuals who are rendering distinguished service to the university and to the community, freely giving their talents in the promotion of human welfare and community well-being, and – through their integrity, leadership, and commitment – serving as models for students and alumni of IU Southeast.
The Chancellor’s Medallion Leadership Scholarship recognizes students for participation and leadership in academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and community volunteerism.
