IU Southeast special projects manager named finalist for national award

10th January 2013

NEW ALBANY, IN (Jan. 10, 2013) – Indiana University Southeast’s Special Projects Manager, Brady Miller, has been named a finalist for one of the event industry’s top awards.

From ceremonies and fundraisers to graduations and speaker series, Miller has been the man behind the scenes of IU Southeast’s major special events since January 2009. In that time, he has planned and coordinated more than 120 events ranging from casual barbecues to formal galas. Now, it’s up to the public to help him win national recognition.

Miller is one of five finalists for the Organizational Planner of the Year award in Event Solutions magazine’s Spotlight Awards program. The awards honor the finest event professionals in the industry, recognizing their body of work in the previous year.

After his initial nomination, Miller submitted profiles of three events that he organized between September 2011 and September 2012. They include the 70th Anniversary edition of the annual Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner, the 70th Anniversary Thing-A-Ma-Dig tree planting event, and IU Southeast’s Birthday Bash and Concert at Warder Park.

While an advisory board made up of accomplished event professionals from across the country narrowed the list to five finalists, the public can now vote to help Miller take home the prize.

“The Organizational Planner of the Year should be excited about what he or she does and for whom, dedicated to bettering that organization, and skilled at delivering effective events. I believe I represent those qualities,” Miller said. “With every project, I strive to leave attendees with positive sentiments about the University. Ultimately, that is the central, driving force behind my work.”

Voting is open until January 26. One vote is allowed per email address. The award recipients will be announced March 12 at the Event Solutions Idea Factory conference in Las Vegas.
