IU Southeast to close Noncredit Programs3rd April 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 3, 2012) – Beginning July 1, Indiana University Southeast will phase out Noncredit Programs. The department of Noncredit Programs is part of IU Southeast’s Continuing Studies division and has allowed the University to serve the community by offering not-for-credit business and industry training, general interest programs, and children’s classes. The decision to end Noncredit Programs is a result of Indiana University’s closure of the School of Continuing Studies and is due to the financial constraints confronting higher education in the state. The closure will not affect the bachelor’s degree in general studies that is currently housed in Continuing Studies.

IU Southeast reorganizes campus advising, hires several new employees26th March 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (March 26, 2012) – Student advising at Indiana University Southeast has a new look. In an effort to increase student persistence to graduation and to better connect students with the faculty and staff in their academic schools, IU Southeast is implementing an overhaul of the advising process. In addition a new Advising Center for Exploratory Students (ACES) will open this week.

IU Southeast and other IU campuses to participate in statewide tornado drill Wednesday20th March 2012

Indiana University campuses, including IU Southeast, will participate in a statewide tornado drill Wednesday, March 21, as part of Indiana’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 18 to 24. Each campus will activate a tornado warning drill using IU Notify, the university’s emergency notification system, between 10 and 10:30 a.m. for the first test and between 7:30 and 8 p.m. for the second, both coinciding with the statewide drill.

IU Southeast students win 2012 Metroversity Writing Competition16th March 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN (March 15, 2012) – The 2012 Metroversity Writing Competition received a host of good entries this year, but it was the quality of the work of Indiana University Southeast students that garnered the attention and appreciation of the judges. Students from IU Southeast won first and second place in all four undergraduate categories, as well as first place in the graduate-level Academic Writing category.

IU Southeast to assist students affected by recent tornadoes6th March 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (March 6, 2012) – The recent tornado outbreak caused widespread damage and devastation to portions of Southern Indiana and Kentucky, disrupting everyday lives for hundreds of families. The communities affected by the storms are in IU Southeast’s backyard and, as neighbors, the University is eager help with relief efforts, particularly for those IU Southeast students who were impacted.
