Santa Claus is coming to town: IU Southeast student designs official holiday postmark

20th November 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN (Nov. 20, 2012) – When anyone receives holiday mail through Santa Claus, Ind., this year, they’ll also be getting a tiny piece of IU Southeast.

Cassie Fischer, an IU Southeast freshman from Santa Claus, Ind., designed the 2012 official holiday postmark for the world famous small-town post office.

As the only post office in the world with Santa Claus in the name, more than 400,000 pieces of mail are processed through the Santa Claus, Ind., post office in December to receive the official holiday postmark.

IU Southeast student Cassie Fischer designed the 2012 Santa Claus, Ind., holiday postmark.

Fischer’s design features a cheery St. Nick greeting people with a hearty “Hello from Santa Claus Station!”

The post office holds the postmark design contest each year for local high school art students. Fischer submitted her postmark before graduating from Heritage Hills High School in May 2012. She is now majoring in graphic design at IU Southeast.
