IU Southeast Alumni Association offers $10,000 in student scholarships

3rd July 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (July 3, 2012) – The alumni of Indiana University Southeast are “passing it forward” with the introduction of six new scholarships for IU Southeast students.

The IU Southeast Alumni Association will award a $1,000 scholarship to one student in each of the University’s six schools or divisions. In addition, the Association will once again provide four student athletes with a $1,000 scholarship – an annual gift awarded by the Association. The scholarships are available for the 2012-13 school year.

“This is a fantastic way for our alumni to give back to their alma mater while also encouraging our students to become proud, active members of the campus community,” said John Watkins, president of the IU Southeast Alumni Association. “We want our current students to see the benefits of being a Grenadier and also to become productive members of our community after graduation. This is one small way we can help.”

The funding for the scholarships is provided by the IU Southeast Alumni Association and a match from IU Southeast Chancellor Sandra R. Patterson-Randles’ scholarship fund.

To qualify for the scholarship, recipients must be a full-time IU Southeast undergraduate with a family member who is an IU Southeast alum and a paid member of the IU Southeast Alumni Association. The recipient must also be a member of the Student Alumni Association.

Applications are now being accepted. For more information, to receive an application, or to join to the Student Alumni Association, contact Diane Fuchs at (812) 941-2384 or defuchs@ius.edu.
