IU Southeast to close 70th Anniversary celebrations with Warder Park concert

9th May 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (May 9, 2012) – Indiana University Southeast is ending its 70th Anniversary celebration with a bang – and some birthday cake.

Everyone is invited to IU Southeast’s birthday bash and concert commemorating the University’s 70th Anniversary at 7 p.m., Friday, May 18, at Warder Park in Jeffersonville.

Opening Jeffersonville Main Street’s Concerts in the Park Series, the free outdoor concert will feature performances from IU Southeast’s many talented musical ensembles, all culminating in a stirring rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” performed by more than 150 musicians from the campus and community.

And no birthday party would be complete without cake for the entire crowd! Join us to celebrate seven decades of valued partnership between IU Southeast and Kentuckiana.

The 70th Anniversary Concert wraps up a year of celebrations honoring the seven decades since the founding of IU Southeast. Other anniversary events included the Thing-A-Ma-Dig tree planting, a 70th Anniversary edition of the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner, and the installation of a timeline in University Center.

Please bring blankets or chairs for seating. If inclement weather is forecast, call Jeffersonville Main Street at (812) 283-0301 or check ius.edu to determine if the concert has been canceled.
