4th November 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (Nov. 4, 2011) – Remembering those who have fought for our nation is sometimes easier said than done. However, Indiana University Southeast will be taking time this month to honor those who have protected our country.

Several events have been planned at IU Southeast in honor of Veterans Day, including a memorial service, luncheon, and concert.

Sponsored by IU Southeast and Ivy Tech Community College, a memorial service will be held from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, in McCullough Plaza at IU Southeast. The memorial service is open to the public. An invitation-only lunch for veterans and their families will follow from noon – 1:15 p.m. in the Hoosier Room.

The celebration continues into the weekend when families, friends, and community members are invited to attend the patriotic gala “Come to the Canteen: A USO – Inspired Tribute to Our Veterans.”

The concert begins at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Stem Concert Hall of the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at IU Southeast. The show is free and open to the public.
