IU Southeast to host 2011 Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner

14th October 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Oct. 14, 2011) – The annual Indiana University Southeast Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner will feature a new twist to celebrate the campus’s 70th anniversary.

For the first time in the event’s history, the University will forego recognizing any new recipient. Instead, all 37 previous Chancellor’s Medallion award recipients will be honored.

Since 1994, IU Southeast has been recognizing the region’s most service-oriented citizens with the Chancellor’s Medallion, the highest honor presented by the Chancellor of IU Southeast. However, as part of the University’s 70th anniversary, this year’s program will focus on previous Medallion recipients and their collective, ongoing impact on the region.

This memorable evening will be a tribute to these award winners and the seven decades of success the campus and community have enjoyed together, plus a very special look forward to the future of the University.

The Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. Tickets are $100 per person. Corporate table sponsorships are available. For ticket information contact the IU Southeast Office of Development at (812) 941-2464.

Proceeds from the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner go to the Chancellor’s Medallion Leadership Scholarship program. The scholarships recognize students for participation and leadership in academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and community volunteerism.

This year’s student scholarship winners, who also will be honored at the dinner, are Michael David Brown, of Fisherville, Ky.; Jerilyn Marie Hacker, of Borden, Ind.; Stacy Lynne Harvey, of Louisville; and Alex Michael Ooley, of Borden, Ind.
