IU Southeast students to head back to the classrooms

NEW ALBANY, IN (Aug. 22, 2011) – Empty classrooms across Indiana University Southeast are about to be filled again with thousands of students.

A new student induction for incoming students will be held Friday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. in the IU Southeast Activities Building. IU Southeast students begin fall 2010 classes on Monday, Aug. 29.

The Office of Campus Life will welcome all students back to campus with a week’s worth of activities.

Week of Welcome begins Monday, Aug. 29, with Donuts and Directions at 8 a.m., followed by free lunch and music at noon sponsored by the Christian Student Fellowship (CSF). At 7 p.m. the CSF will sponsor a “ThinkFast” gameshow.

More Donuts and Directions are available Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 8 a.m. At noon, the Student Program Council sponsors free lunch and a performance by the Philip 7 Band. Also at noon is the kickoff celebration for IU Southeast’s 70th anniversary year.

Wednesday, Aug. 31, Chancellor Sandra R. Patterson-Randles is treating everyone to a morning meal at the Chancellor’s Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Greek Life is sponsoring free lunch and a performance by Maestro J & Band at noon. The Coco Yam African Band will perform at 7:30 p.m.

The Student Government Association is hosting lunch at noon Thursday, Sept. 1, and the Student Veterans are hosting a family picnic at 4 p.m. The Campus Boogie is at 7 p.m.

Finally, take a trip to Worldfest 2011 on Friday night. Interested students can join their IU Southeast peers on a bus trip to Worldfest on the Belvedere in Louisville. Enjoy music on three stages, food vendors and crafts. Cost of bus and admission is free, bring $10 for food. The bus leaves McCullough Plaza at 5:30 p.m. and returns by 9:30 p.m. Students can sign up in Campus Life, UC 010 or call (812) 941-2316.
