University Police provide vehicle assistance to on-campus drivers

27th June 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (June 27, 2011) – Need help getting going? University Police now offer on-campus drivers jumpstart and unlock assistance for a nominal fee.

Beginning July 1, University Police will charge $5 to jumpstart a vehicle and $10 to unlock a vehicle on campus. These services are available to all faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors.

To receive jumpstart or unlock services, drivers can visit the University Police department in University Center North. Fees must be paid in the office prior to service.

University Police have previously offered jumpstart and unlock services at no charge, but increasing requests have required the fee implementation. From November 2010-February 2011, University Police completed 132 jumpstarts and 74 unlocks.

The new fees allow University Police to continue providing vehicle assistance with the necessary equipment and resources.
