NEW ALBANY, IN (May 12, 2011) – Joe Glover has been hired as Indiana University Southeast’s new athletic director as announced by University officials on Thursday morning. Glover will begin his new post effective immediately having served as the department’s interim director since August 2010.

“I’m delighted that Joe Glover has accepted our offer to become the new Athletic Director for Indiana University Southeast. We are so fortunate to fill this position with such a capable person who is ready to lead our athletics program forward,” said IU Southeast Vice Chancellor Ruth Garvey-Nix. “Joe’s passion for athletics, his commitment to excellence and his outstanding leadership skills are well-suited for the Athletic Director position.”

Glover originally joined the Grenadier Athletic Department in July 2005 as sports information specialist. Glover was later promoted to assistant athletic director in 2008. Prior to joining IU Southeast, Glover worked in the sports information department at the University of Louisville.

“I appreciate the opportunity given to me by Chancellor Sandra Patterson-Randles, Vice Chancellor Ruth Garvey-Nix, and everyone at IU Southeast. As the educational leader in the region, IU Southeast provides opportunities for its students, faculty, and staff to achieve at the highest level. I am sincerely looking forward to doing all that I can to contribute to the overall mission and vision of this great University,” said Glover.

During his time with the IU Southeast athletic department, Glover has been responsible for several areas including marketing, development, facility scheduling, media relations, game operations, and compliance.

An alumnus of IU Southeast, Glover graduated with distinction in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and was named Outstanding Marketing Graduate. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Business Administration at the IU Southeast School of Business.

A native of New Albany and a proud graduate of New Albany High School, Glover is an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). He also serves as a conference representative for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and is a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Executive Committee. He is also a member of the NAIA Athletic Directors Association (NAIA-ADA).

Glover is looking forward to guiding the athletic department and intramural program on campus to future successes.

“IU Southeast has a wonderful and rich athletic tradition. Former Head Coach and Athletic Director Jim Morris really built something special here,” said Glover. “I am excited to be given the opportunity to continue helping the students of our University grow academically and athletically.”

At IU Southeast, Glover will inherit an intercollegiate athletic program that consists of seven varsity sports with two spirit groups and a thriving intramurals program. IU Southeast teams have repeatedly finished first in the KIAC, winning the prestigious KIAC Commissioner’s All-Sports Cup for the past two consecutive years.
