NEW ALBANY, IN (April 11, 2011) – Eight Indiana University Southeast student journalists were honored for their writing, design, and photography skills at a statewide conference.
The Horizon, IU Southeast’s student newspaper, won several awards at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association annual award ceremony in April. The Horizon competed in the Newspapers – Division II category and received two first-place awards, four second-place awards, and three third-place awards. Winners included:

• Joseph Dever, second place, opinion writing
• Cheryl Scroggins, second place, news photo
• Hanna Woods and Jessica Welch, second place, photo essay
• Horizon staff, second place, editorial writing
• C.J. Daniels, third place, entertainment column writing
• Annie Malka, third place, news feature
• Claire Munn, third place, feature page design
