IU Southeast volunteers prep for local park cleanup31st March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (March 31, 2011) – IU Southeast volunteers are tackling local park cleanup for the annual Day of Service. The Grenadier Outstanding Leadership Development Program (GOLD) and the IU Southeast Student Government Association are sponsoring this year’s Day of Service clean up and beautification of Billy Herman Park in downtown New Albany.

Brazilian artist brings eclectic musical feast to IU Southeast31st March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (March 31, 2011) – Brazilian musician Cyro Baptista will bring his unique sound to the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at IU Southeast in April as part of the Global Village Series. Baptista and a trio of up-and-coming musicians sing and play an array of instruments, blending African and Brazilian folk instruments like the mbira, gimbre, berimbau and balafon with electric keyboards, drum set, electric bass, and even bizarre homemade percussion instruments.

IU Southeast legislative forum canceled29th March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (March 29, 2011) – A public legislative forum scheduled for Friday, April 1, at Indiana University Southeast will not be held. The event was canceled after it was announced that Indiana’s Democratic contingent had returned to the capital and state legislators would be participating in House sessions on Friday.

Southern Indiana politicians to hold legislative forum at IU Southeast25th March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (March 25, 2011) – Four Southern Indiana politicians will be on hand to answer questions from constituents at a public legislative forum at Indiana University Southeast. Indiana State Reps. Ed Clere, Rhonda Rhoads, and Steve Stemler will join Indiana State Sen. Ron Grooms on April 1 to share their views on the General Assembly’s biennium budget session and participate in a question and answer session with the audience.

Grenadier athletes earn NAIA All-American honors17th March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN – Two IU Southeast basketball players received NAIA All-American recognition for the 2010-11 season. IU Southeast senior guard Jazzmarr Ferguson became the first IU Southeast men’s basketball player to be named to the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-America first team while IU Southeast sophomore guard Ashmere Woods received honorable mention recognition on the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball All-America team.

More than 1,000 students honored for academics at IU Southeast16th March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN, (March 16, 2011) – Indiana University Southeast is proud to announce the members of the spring 2011 Dean’s List and Chancellor’s List.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. A Chancellor’s List student has received a 4.0 GPA.

For spring 2011, 240 students made the Chancellor’s List, while 914 students joined the Dean’s List.

IU Southeast professors release book on state Supreme Court justices15th March 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (March 10, 2011) – Two IU Southeast professors recently celebrated the release of their latest book chronicling the lives of Indiana’s 106 Supreme Court justices. Justices of the Indiana Supreme Court, edited by IU Southeast journalism professor Jim St. Clair and political science professor emerita Linda Gugin, is now available from the Indiana Historical Society Press.
