The Umbilical Brothers

NEW ALBANY, IN (Feb. 8, 2011) – Get ready to be THWAKed.

Australian comedy sensation The Umbilical Brothers are bringing their Down Under sense of humor to Southern Indiana on Saturday, Feb. 19.

“The Umbilical Brothers present THWAK!” features comedy routines including classic mime with a twist, physical satire of tap dance, and impossible contortionism illusions. The Brothers – David and Shane – are often compared to the Blue Man Group and Stomp, and they have been seen on “Late Night with David Letterman” and Jay Leno.

“THWAK!” is the first Umbilical Brothers show designed to be performed without translation in the United States. In their home country of Australia, the Umbilical Brothers have won the Australian Entertainment Industry’s MO Award for Best Comedy Group for the last five years, and they were awarded the Critic’s Choice Award at the 1995 Edinburgh Comedy Festival and the United Slapstick Award in Germany.

The Umbilical Brothers will take the stage at 8 p.m., Feb. 19, at the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at IU Southeast. The show is appropriate for adult patrons only. For more information on the performance, visit www.umbilicalbrothers.com.

Tickets are $29.50 or $10 for IU Southeast students and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. For more information, call the Ogle Center box office Tuesday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or visit oglecenter/ius.edu.
