IU Southeast to present “remarkable” portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

20th January 2011

NEW ALBANY, IN (Jan. 20, 2011) –, Indiana University Southeast will commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a dramatic presentation of “Reflections: the Life and Times of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” by actor Jim Lucas.

The show will premiere at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 26, at the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center.

With an uncanny resemblance to King, Lucas is nationally recognized for his stirring and dramatic recitations and interpretive readings portraying the life and times of King.

A student of the teachings of King, Lucas is also an advocate of King’s philosophy of non-violent civil action to effect social change, and he has participated in local protests and demonstrations in his home town of Lake Providence, Louisiana.

This event, sponsored by the Ogle Center, Residence Life & Housing, Equity and Diversity, Campus Life, the Student Programming Council, Student Life Committee, and Student Activity Fees fund, is not to be missed as Lucas’ resemblance to and interpretation of King has been called remarkable, awe inspiring, uncanny, and soulful.

Admission is free, but RSVPs are recommended. For more information please contact the Ogle Center Ticket Office at (812) 941-2526. Event details are available at www.ius.edu/campuslife/article/Campus_Calendar.
