Aprile Rickert, recent IU Southeast graduate and former editor-in-chief of the IU Southeast student publication, The Horizon, recently published a story that is calling attention across Southern Indiana.

Rickert, who also works as a freelance writer for the News and Tribune, took an in-depth look at homelessness in a story that published April 13. But she’s not approaching homelessness in the traditional sense. She’s not searching shelters for her interviews. Instead, Rickert is tackling homelessness from a very real, and very underreported angle. Her story exposes, and humanizes, homelessness on college campuses.

In addition to being published by The Horizon, Rickert’s story, featuring IU Southeast students, faculty and staff, was also published by the News and Tribune as part of an ongoing series called Facing Homelessness.
