IU Southeast Activities Building to Close Temporarily for Construction

9th February 2015

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (Feb. 9, 2015) – The IU Southeast Activities Building will be closed beginning March 2, 2015 to allow for renovations and building improvements. The facility will reopen July 1, 2015.

This project includes upgrades to the existing heating and air conditioning systems, IT and other structural improvements. To accommodate the necessary construction, the fitness center and gym floor will be included in the temporary building closure—the second phase of improvements for the IU Southeast Activities Building. During the summer of 2013, new bleachers were installed in the gym and the floor was resurfaced.

While the building is closed, students, faculty and staff who display their IU Southeast UCARD are eligible to use the Louisville Athletic Club (LAC) Fitness Center in New Albany at 4430 Charlestown Road. Special IU Southeast pricing will be in effect through the shutdown, $9.99 per month with no contract. The New Albany LAC will also waive enrollment and semi-annual maintenance fees. This special offer is only available at LAC’s New Albany location. Those interested in signing up should call 812-949-5051 or visit the LAC on Charlestown Road in New Albany.

All IU Southeast athletic teams will be practicing at alternate sites throughout the shutdown. No spring sport schedules will be impacted by the closure.

Contact the IU Southeast Athletic Department with any questions at 812-941-2001. During the building closure, e-mail questions and inquiries to athletics@ius.edu for faster response.
