Sanders Financial Markets Lab at IU Southeast undergoes upgrades

5th April 2013

NEW ALBANY, IN, (April 5, 2013) – The Sanders Financial Markets Lab underwent a makeover during spring break, and will finish the semester bigger and better than ever for business students.

“The specific upgrades that were installed in the Sanders Financial Markets Lab were two monitors and a lectern,” Jay White, dean of the School of Business said. “We are confident the modifications will make the lab an even better learning space for all of the classes that use it.”

The upgrades came after nearly two years of collecting student and faculty feedback about the lab. With the class being laid out in an “X” shape, there were concerns that the two presentation monitors weren’t big enough, and also that there wasn’t a traditional white board for professors to write on. The new upgrades address all these issues and more.

“We’re very happy to have made the upgrades and I had one of our instructors send a very positive email as soon as she finished her first class in the upgraded room,” White said.

The lab, funded in part by a generous donation from Judge Carlton and Sue Sanders, allows IU Southeast School of Business students to experience real-world applications of stock market and financial techniques. Open since June 2010, it is the first university financial lab in the Greater Louisville area.
