10th December 2012

NEW ALBANY, IN, (Dec. 10, 2012) – The holiday season is officially in full swing, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with friends, family and music. You can find all of that when “A Leahy Family Christmas” comes to the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at Indiana University Southeast.

“A Leahy Family Christmas” will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Ogle Center.

Leahy

Leahy is comprised of eight musical brothers and sisters who have been playing together their entire lives. The band’s four acclaimed CDs – Leahy, Lakefield, In All Things, and Leahy Live – have worldwide sales of over half-a-million copies. The group opened for Shania Twain on her first world tour, and they were the subject of an Academy Award-winning documentary on the life and music of their family.  Their countless awards and accolades span many musical genres, from traditional roots, folk, and country to pop, jazz, and classical.

“Music has always been a huge part of our Christmas experience,” the Leahys said.  “Our house would be alive with people, music, dance and song! Children and adults alike all joined in and participated in the festivities. This is one aspect of our Christmas show that we’re looking forward to the most, bringing the audience in on all of the action taking place on stage.”

The Canadian group’s repertoire will largely consist of Christmas favorites, as well as a few original songs.  General Admission tickets are $29.50. To purchase tickets, call the Ogle Center box office at (812) 941-2525, or order online at www.ius.edu/oglecenter.
